I imagine there are a lot of ways of making textures for Poser models and my way is not all inclusive, by all means. This tutorial is just meant to show how I do things. There are a lot of tutorials out there. Search them out! By reading and practicing with different tutorials, you learn something new every time. |
| You will need: | UVMapper by Steve Cox (free download). |
| A graphics program such as Photoshop, PhotoImpact, or Paint Shop Pro. | |
| A graphics tablet such as a Graphire (not necessary but very handy). I use a Wacom Graphire graphics tablet (about $99 retail). |
| In this tutorial, we will create a very simple texture for Posette's (Poser's standard P4 female model) bikini top. A more complex texture would include transparencies, highlights, and bump maps. That will be for another tutorial. NOTE: The images in this tutorial are reduced by at least 50% to speed up loading of this page. |
|
| Begin this tutorial by following the Using UVMapper tutorial to generate your chosen template. You can also click here to download the "BikiniTop.bmp" to bypass the UVMapper tutorial. When the screen opens, just right-click and save to your hard drive. | |
| After you have your template saved on your hard drive, open your graphics program. Load your chosen template. In this case, we'll use Posette's bikini top. If you use PhotoImpact, you will need to convert the file format to True Color by clicking on "Format", "Data Type", "RGB True Color" the image before you can use color on it. If you use Photoshop, you will will need to convert the file format to True Color by clicking on "Image", "Mode", "RGB Color". Using the template as a guide, simply color within the confines of the template. Anything outside of the guides will not appear on the bikini. (Fig. 1). |
|
| Apply color or a texture as shown on Fig. 2. Finally, when you're done, save your image/texture as either a .jpg or a .tif in your folder of choice. |

| That's it! Your texture is done! Remember these instructions can be followed for any .obj you wish to texture! You can use solid colors or patterns too! | |
